Sandra Jauregui, Impacted Nevadans Call Out Record High Gas and Diesel Prices Under Lombardo-Trump Economy
Today the Nevada State Democratic Party held a press conference with Assembly Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui, school bus driver Talaya Dunn, and local shift worker Lucy Brownlee to call out record-high gas and diesel prices under Joe Lombardo, Stavros Anthony, and Donald Trump. Since Lombardo and Stavros Anthony embraced Trump’s endless war with Iran, Nevada’s average diesel price reached an all-time high as gas also continues to climb.
While Lombardo and Anthony remain a Doormat for Donald, families are struggling to fill up their tanks, grocery stores are raising their prices, and delivery drivers are working fewer hours to avoid gas bills eating their entire paycheck. Trump’s war is also costing Clark County School District millions more just to fuel school buses.

“Gas is over $5 a gallon and diesel is nearly $7 — both reaching record highs since Trump unleashed his reckless war with Iran,” said Jauregui. “Delivery drivers are literally cutting their hours because the cost of gas is eating their entire earnings. Families have to pick between filling up their gas tank or putting food on the table. This is the pain that Lombardo and Anthony blatantly disregard while they support the most destructive president in modern history.”
“With President Trump’s war with Iran, prices continue to rise with no end in sight. Like all Nevadans, I feel it every time I pay my rent, buy groceries, or fill up my gas tank,” said Dunn. “These days, I don’t go home on my lunch breaks so that I don’t waste gas money.”
“Last year, I began to start driving Lyft to supplement the cost of living. I’m here to share my perspective on how gas prices have affected my everyday life. When I started driving last October, the cost of gas was around $3.70 a gallon. When gas hit $5 a gallon this year like a lot of others, I had to quit driving for rideshare,” said Brownlee. “It no longer made sense with a tank of gas costing me $90.”
